Blue Glacier Dip

The translucent nature of the paint also allows part of the underlying preparation to remain visible. For a strong contrast base, apply Blue Glacier Dip over a white or light-coloured primer. You can also establish the values beforehand with a Slapchop grisaille, using black, grey and white to define the main highlights and shadows. Once the Dipping Ink is applied, these variations remain visible beneath the colour and contribute to the final appearance.

Application is handled directly through the size 2 marker nib. This size offers a practical balance between coverage and control, allowing the different areas of a miniature to be treated efficiently. Since the marker is ready to use, there is no need to prepare a wet palette, brush or additional container before starting, which keeps the workflow particularly straightforward when working through several models.

Before use, shake the marker thoroughly, then apply the paint directly to the surface and distribute it evenly. Avoid repeatedly working over areas that have already started to dry. For smaller details or areas requiring greater precision, the size 2 nib can be replaced with a separately available size 1 nib.

The marker can remain part of your painting setup after its original contents have been consumed. It can be cleaned, refilled and reused with suitable paints, while replacement kits containing nibs and internal components are available to renew the system. Suitable refills include Dipping Ink, airbrush paints and other acrylic paints with an appropriate fluidity. Thicker paints can be adjusted with acrylic thinner to reach the necessary consistency.
