Violet Hint Dip

The size 2 nib provides a practical balance between coverage and control. It can be used directly on the miniature, eliminating the need for a brush, wet palette or additional container during application. This makes the marker particularly convenient when working through several models and looking for a consistent painting process from one miniature to the next.

The final result depends heavily on the value structure underneath the colour. For a pronounced contrast effect, apply VIOLET HINT DIP over a white or light-coloured primer. It can also be used over a Slapchop-style grisaille, where black, grey and white have already been used to establish the main highlights and shadows. Because the Dipping Ink remains translucent, these underlying value changes show through the colour and help reinforce the definition of the miniature’s volumes.

Before painting, shake the refillable marker thoroughly. Apply the paint directly to the surface and spread it evenly, taking care not to repeatedly work areas that have already started to dry. If smaller sections require additional precision, the size 2 nib can be replaced with a separately available size 1 replacement nib.

Once the original 6.5 ml of paint has been used, the marker can be cleaned, refilled and used again. It can be filled with Dipping Ink, airbrush paints or other acrylic paints with a suitable consistency. Thicker paints can be adjusted with acrylic thinner to achieve the required flow. Replacement kits containing nibs and internal components are also available, allowing the marker to be maintained and reused for new colours, mixes or modelling effects.
