Cool Blue Dip

This approach is particularly useful when working on a wargaming army, where a fast and consistent workflow can make a significant difference. The marker can be used directly across different areas of miniatures and characters, with no brush, wet palette or additional container required. Its size 2 nib combines efficient coverage with a useful degree of control. For smaller surfaces or more precise details, it can be replaced with a separately available size 1 replacement nib.

For the strongest contrast effect, apply the marker over a white or light-coloured primer. Cool Blue Dip can also be incorporated into a Slapchop workflow. A black, grey and white grisaille establishes the main highlights and shadows before the Dipping Ink is applied. Because the paint is translucent, these underlying value changes remain visible and contribute to the contrast and definition of the finished miniature.

Before painting, shake the marker thoroughly to homogenise the paint. Apply it directly to the surface and distribute it evenly. Once an area has started to dry, avoid excessive additional passes so the paint can retain a consistent distribution across the miniature.

Once the original 6.5 ml of paint has been used, the marker can be cleaned and put back into service. It can be refilled with Dipping Ink, airbrush paints or other acrylic paints with a suitable fluidity. Thicker paints can be adjusted with acrylic thinner when necessary. Replacement kits containing nibs and internal components are also available to renew the marker and extend its useful life.
