Red Cloak Dip

A size 2 nib provides a useful balance between coverage and control, allowing different areas of a miniature to be painted efficiently. Since the paint is applied directly from the marker, there is no need for a brush, wet palette or additional container. This makes the format particularly practical when working through several miniatures or larger wargaming projects. For smaller areas and finer work, the nib can be replaced with a separately available size 1 replacement nib.

The underlying preparation has a direct influence on the contrast effect. Apply Red Cloak Dip over a white or light-coloured primer to maximise the visible tonal variation. The marker can also be incorporated into a Slapchop workflow: first establish highlights and shadows with black, grey and white, then apply the translucent Dipping Ink over the prepared values. The tonal differences remain visible beneath the colour, adding definition to the miniature’s volumes.

Shake the marker thoroughly before use to homogenise the paint, then apply it directly to the surface and distribute it evenly. Avoid repeatedly brushing over areas where the paint has already started to dry, helping to maintain a more consistent finish.

Red Cloak Dip is designed to remain useful beyond its original fill. Once the paint has been used, the marker can be cleaned, refilled and reused with new colours. It can be filled with Dipping Ink, airbrush paints and other acrylic paints with a suitable consistency. Thicker paints can be adjusted using acrylic thinner to achieve the necessary flow. Replacement kits with nibs and internal components are also available to renew the marker and extend its service life.
