The marker format also removes several steps from the painting setup. The paint can be applied directly from the marker, with no brush, wet palette or additional container required. Its size 2 nib provides efficient coverage while retaining enough control for miniature painting. When working on smaller areas or details, the nib can be replaced with a separately available size 1 replacement nib.

The underlying surface provides the foundation for the contrast effect. Applying the marker over a white or light-coloured primer allows the variations in the translucent paint to remain visible. Zombie Green Dip can also be incorporated into a Slapchop workflow: establish highlights and shadows first using black, grey and white, then apply the Dipping Ink over this preparation. The underlying values remain visible and help increase the definition of the miniature’s volumes.

Before starting, shake the marker thoroughly to homogenise the paint. Apply it directly to the miniature and distribute it evenly across the surface. Avoid excessive passes over areas that have already started to dry in order to maintain a consistent application.

The marker can also be reused for future projects. Once the original 6.5 ml of paint has been exhausted, it can be cleaned, refilled and used again with new colours. Suitable options include Dipping Ink, airbrush paints and other acrylic paints with an appropriate fluid consistency. Thicker paints can be adjusted with acrylic thinner. Replacement kits containing nibs and internal components are also available to renew the marker and extend its working life.
