Skeleton Brown Dip brings the contrast-painting approach directly into a refillable marker. Filled with ready-to-use Dipping Ink from Green Stuff World, it provides a practical way to work across miniature surfaces without setting up a brush, wet palette or additional containers. The paint’s fluid, translucent nature allows it to settle into recesses while remaining lighter across raised areas, helping establish shadows, highlights and depth through a single coat.
The size 2 nib is designed to balance coverage with control. It can be used across different areas of a miniature while keeping application manageable, making the marker particularly convenient when several models need to be painted efficiently for a wargaming force.
The underlying preparation has an important role in the final result. For a strong contrast effect, apply Skeleton Brown Dip over a white or light-coloured primer. It can also be combined with the Slapchop method: first establish a grayscale of black, grey and white, then apply the translucent Dipping Ink over it. The variations in value remain visible through the colour and contribute to stronger definition across the miniature.
Before painting, shake the marker thoroughly to distribute the contents. Apply the paint directly to the surface and spread it evenly, taking care not to repeatedly work areas that have already started to dry. When greater precision is required, the size 2 nib can be replaced with a separately available size 1 nib.
Once the original paint has been used, the marker does not have to be discarded. GSW markers can be cleaned, refilled and reused with Dipping Ink, airbrush paints or other acrylic paints with a suitable consistency. Thicker paints can be adjusted with acrylic thinner. Replacement kits containing nibs and internal components are also available to renew the marker and extend its useful life.
