Elfwood Brown Dip

The underlying preparation can play an important role in the final result. Applying the marker over a white or light-coloured primer allows the tonal variations of the paint to remain visible. A Slapchop workflow can take this further by first establishing highlights and shadows with black, grey and white. The translucent Dipping Ink then allows these values to show through the colour, contributing to the overall contrast and definition.

Application is kept deliberately straightforward. The size 2 nib delivers the paint directly onto the surface, removing the need for a brush, wet palette or additional container. It provides a useful balance between coverage and control when working across different areas of miniatures, characters or wargaming armies. For smaller areas requiring greater precision, the size 2 nib can be replaced with a separately available size 1 nib.

Before use, shake the marker thoroughly to homogenise the paint. Apply it directly to the miniature and distribute it evenly across the surface. Avoid repeatedly working over areas where the paint has already begun to dry in order to maintain a consistent application.

Elfwood Brown Dip is also designed for long-term reuse. Once the original 6.5 ml of paint has been exhausted, the marker can be cleaned and refilled with another colour. It can be used with Dipping Ink, airbrush paints and other acrylic paints with a suitable fluid consistency. Thicker paints can be adjusted with acrylic thinner when necessary. Replacement kits containing nibs and internal components are also available to renew the marker and extend its useful life.
