Flexible metallic paints are specifically formulated to maintain adhesion and durability even when the painted surface is bent, flexed, or subjected to movement. Unlike traditional paints that may crack or peel under stress, these paints contain special additives designed to enhance flexibility. The formula developed by Green Stuff World contains no latex or vinyl, helping reduce the risk of allergic reactions while making it particularly suitable for a wide range of materials commonly used in modelling and cosplay, such as EVA foam, fabric, leather, latex, and 3D printed parts.
As with all metallic paints, the visual result is significantly more intense, deep, and realistic when applied over a dark base, especially black. This type of primer enhances the shine of metallic pigments and increases the contrast of the final finish. For optimal results, applying a flexible black primer beforehand is strongly recommended, particularly for projects requiring a smooth, opaque, and visually striking metallic surface. Proper surface preparation is essential: thorough cleaning, light sanding when necessary, and the use of a suitable primer will greatly improve adhesion and durability.
Application should always be carried out in thin layers, especially the first coat, which acts as the bonding layer. Subsequent coats should be applied while the previous one is still slightly tacky to ensure proper adhesion between layers. Thick coats or heavy paint build-up can reduce adhesion and create surface defects. A full curing time of at least 24 hours is recommended, and longer if thicker layers are applied. Using an airbrush or spray gun helps achieve extremely thin and even coats, reducing the risk of peeling. Dilution with water or a suitable acrylic thinner is recommended to improve flow and control during application.
The satin finish provides an effective balance between matte and gloss, creating a slightly reflective surface that enhances details while maintaining a durable appearance. This type of finish is particularly recommended for flexible parts because it resists dirt, withstands repeated handling, and is easy to clean. These paints are flexible but not elastic, meaning they may crack if overstretched. A flexible varnish can be applied as a final protective layer to improve long-term durability. Contents: 1 x 240 ml bottle. Not recommended for use on smooth or non-porous surfaces without proper priming (glass, ceramic, glossy plastic, bare metal, concrete, stone, wood, silicone, or waxed surfaces).
