In model making, waiting for paint to dry can quickly become frustrating. With acrylic paint, this problem disappears: it dries to the touch in just a few minutes. However, for optimum durability, it is advisable to wait 20 to 24 hours for the paint to reach its full strength.

Although acrylic paint can be diluted with water, it becomes water-resistant after drying. This property makes it ideal for works that need to last longer. For special effects, it can also be mixed with other colours, pastes or suitable solvents.

Painting may be a pleasure, but cleaning the equipment can be a chore. Fortunately, acrylic paint is easy to clean with soap and water. For more stubborn marks, solutions such as alcohol, airbrush cleaner or specialist products like Green Stuff World Paint Remover are very effective.

Compared with oil or synthetic paints, acrylics are often less toxic thanks to the use of natural pigments. Nevertheless, it is essential to paint in a well-ventilated area and, if necessary, to wear a filter mask.

Contrary to popular belief, acrylics can be applied with either a brush or an airbrush. With a brush, paint that is slightly diluted or slightly modified can be used to obtain fine, precise details. With an airbrush, to avoid clogging the tool, dilute the paint until you obtain a texture similar to milk, whether you're using metallic or non-metallic paints. A tip: always add the thinner to the airbrush before painting.

Acrylic paint comes in a multitude of colours and finishes. Matt finishes are still the most popular for models, dioramas and cots. If necessary, you can adjust the result with Ultra Matt Varnish for a perfect finish.

As well as its quality, acrylic paint is also very affordable, making it an ideal option for budget-conscious modellers.
