This Flak bunker is based on the R677 design, featuring dual-purpose anti-tank and anti-aircraft capabilities. It commonly housed 7.5cm anti-tank guns alongside light anti-aircraft weapons such as 2cm, 3.7cm, and quad 2cm Flak guns. These bunkers delivered deadly firepower capable of striking invading forces during their landing, as well as providing protection from Allied air attacks.
The Atlantic Wall, stretching along the coasts of Northwest Europe, was lined with hundreds of these versatile bunkers among many other fortifications. They formed a formidable defensive barrier that British, Canadian, and US troops had to overcome during the Normandy landings on D-Day. Their ability to engage both ground and air threats made them key components of the German defensive network.
