Most Nords regard Loki as a mad entity—dangerous at best, outright hostile and deadly at worst. He is the father of monsters, the enemy of the Aesir, and a constant nuisance to heroes, mortals, and gods alike. Yet, despite his many flaws, it was Loki who created the Goltr—the only creature in Manheim that can survive in the wild and yet be tamed. Its meat is tender and delicious, its tough constitution makes parasites exceedingly rare, though not entirely absent, and its leather is soft, durable, and exceptionally warm. Intelligent and loyal, Goltr can be trained for various roles, and it is common to see herds of these creatures loaded onto ships for raids. While it is true that more foes and handlers have fallen victim to their occasional murderous temperament than to any other beast, and their insatiable omnivorous hunger has earned the Nords a reputation for cannibalism, few dwell on these facts. But Loki, the old, deranged god, always smiles when he recalls them.
Ferocious and often uncontrollable, Goltr beastpacks charge ahead of the main force, crashing violently into enemy lines and scattering formations, leaving the raiders free to pick them apart. While Fenr excel at quickly flanking an enemy force, the Goltr serve as the brutal, battering ram, delivering devastating blows to their foes.
