While outdated in the European theatre, the A12 Matilda II infantry tank proved highly effective against Japanese forces in the Far East. Its thick armour and solid firepower were well-suited to confront lightly armed opponents. Due to the difficult jungle terrain, large armoured formations weren’t practical, leading the Australian 4th Armoured Brigade to deploy its Matildas in smaller support units of three tanks, working closely with infantry units to punch through enemy lines or hold defensive positions.

Australian crews implemented several field modifications, including added armour plating to the track guards and reinforced protection around the turret ring to reduce vulnerability to direct hits. The Matilda Frog was particularly intimidating, capable of unleashing a pressurised burst of flame, though it required a 20-second recharge between shots. As such, it relied heavily on nearby infantry to prevent enemy breakthroughs. This set includes one medium tank in resin and metal, a Bolt Action stat card, vehicle damage markers, full-colour waterslide decals, and a Bolt Action order die. Models are supplied unassembled and unpainted.
