The BT-7 was one of the primary light cavalry tanks used by the Red Army in the early years of World War II. Designed for speed over protection, the BT-7 could reach up to 44 mph on roads and over 30 mph cross-country. Its armor was relatively thin at around 20mm, making it vulnerable to most anti-tank weapons. First seeing action against the Japanese at Khalkhin Gol, the BT-7 was later thrown into the brutal fighting on the Eastern Front from 1941 onward.

Armed with a 45mm main gun and a coaxial machine gun, the BT-7 had a crew of three: a driver, a loader, and a commander who also acted as gunner. This setup placed a heavy burden on the crew, especially given the vehicle’s basic and rugged design. Nonetheless, the Soviets produced over 5,000 of these tanks. Despite heavy losses—more than 2,000 were lost in the first year alone—the BT-7 remained in use throughout much of the war, illustrating the Soviet emphasis on mass production as a strategic advantage.

This kit includes a resin and metal BT-7 tank, complete with Bolt Action damage markers, a unit stat card, and a waterslide decal sheet. Ideal for recreating early war engagements or representing fast-moving Soviet armored forces, the BT-7 is a historically accurate and dynamic addition to any Red Army collection in Bolt Action.
