Desert Sand FS 30279

Flows smoothly through an airbrush and can be thinned with RC701/RC702 High Compatibility Thinner or other thinners designed for lacquer-based paints.

This shade closely matches the Sand 49 color used for the upper surfaces of USAAF aircraft operating in the MTO during 1942-1943. It is also suitable for disruptive camouflage schemes on US Army vehicles during World War II, and for ad-hoc desert schemes applied to some USMC helicopters during the 1990-1991 Gulf War. Additionally, it approximates the Desert Pink used for temporary desert camouflage on RAF aircraft during Operation Granby, including Tornado GR.1/GR.1A, Jaguar GR.1, and Buccaneer S.2B. The color also closely matches BS381C/630 Camouflage Desert Sand for certain British Army vehicles in the 2003 Iraq War and was used in some desert schemes by US Navy (F-5E, F/A-18A & B, F-16A) and USAF (F-15C, F-16C) aggressor squadrons.
