A Totenrotte is an Axis military formation built around the walking dead, created to weaponise fear and disruption across the battlefield. In its earliest deployments, Totenrotten follow a simple directive: unleash Totenkorps deep within enemy lines to spread physical destruction and psychological terror throughout Europe. Immune to pain and fear, these reanimated troops advance without hesitation, absorbing incoming fire and forcing opponents into brutal close-range engagements. Their decayed appearance and relentless behaviour often shatter morale, making the Totenrotte an effective tool of warfare even against experienced and disciplined forces.
With newly emergent technology developed by Axis scientists, driven by the research of the enigmatic Albrecht von Zögling, the role of the Totenrotte expands in a far darker direction. By replicating the effects of the Dresden Rift on the newly dead, these formations move beyond simple deployment and into battlefield recruitment. The Totenrotte now incorporates the Sd.Kfz. 501/1 Nachtzehrer, an armoured walker capable of applying von Zögling’s serum directly in combat. Fallen soldiers, including those of the enemy, can be reanimated and immediately redeployed against their former comrades, turning casualties into fresh reinforcements and giving the Axis a chilling tactical advantage.
This starter army provides a strong foundation for building and fielding a Totenrotte force, combining large numbers of reanimated infantry with specialised mechanised support. The set includes a Totenrotte Platoon Commander with bodyguards, 45 plastic Totenkorps miniatures, and two Sd.Kfz. 501/1 Nachtzehrer walkers, which can also be assembled as the Sd.Kfz. 501/4 Infernospinne variant. The box also includes MDF and plastic bases, along with assembly guides. All miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly.
