Napoleonic Prussian Landwehr Brigade – Epic Battles: Waterloo
Built from volunteers, reservists, and citizens answering the call to arms, the Prussian Landwehr became one of the defining military forces of the Hundred Days campaign. Though lacking the polish of veteran regulars, these formations earned a reputation for resilience, determination, and an ability to hold the line under enormous pressure.
This Epic Battles set captures that atmosphere with a full brigade centred around large Landwehr infantry formations supported by cavalry and skirmish troops. The infantry regiments provide the backbone of the force, forming dense battle lines capable of overwhelming opponents through persistence and sheer weight of numbers.
Supporting the advance is a regiment of Landwehr cavalry, useful for screening movements, exploiting weakened positions, or reinforcing vulnerable sections of the battlefield. Ahead of the main formation, elite Jäger skirmishers operate as agile light infantry, disrupting enemy advances and protecting the brigade from incoming threats.
The visual contrast between militia troops and specialised skirmishers gives the army a distinctive tabletop identity, especially once deployed in larger Napoleonic engagements.
