Positioned one step below the brightest shade, Ultramar Blue 4 adds a strong level of brightness to the Tone Pro colour progression. It can be used to bring raised areas forward, develop contrast across a miniature, or continue a gradual transition through the five Ultramar Blue shades.
Tone Pro is defined by intense colours with strong coverage in a single coat, including colours that are traditionally more difficult to handle evenly. Ultramar Blue 4 can be applied directly from the pot, while its self-levelling properties help the paint settle into a consistent, even finish.
Each Tone Pro colour is organised into five shades, numbered from 1 for the darkest to 5 for the lightest. Ultramar Blue 4 is therefore the second-lightest stage of the sequence. Pair it with the darker shades to build a controlled increase in brightness, then use Ultramar Blue 5 to take the progression to its lightest point.
The formulation is also designed to work across several painting methods, allowing one colour to serve different purposes:
As the second-lightest Ultramar Blue shade, Ultramar Blue 4 occupies a useful position within the Tone Pro sequence. It can stand on its own where a brighter blue is needed, or become part of a complete progression from Ultramar Blue 1 through 5 for a more structured change from deep tones to the brightest areas.
