Oddball Sherman
Rarely, if ever, have the words "war" and "comedy" been so successfully combined as in MGM’s 1970 classic Kelly’s Heroes. However, the movie, originally titled The Warriors, underwent a major transformation from its inception to release, with entire scenes and characters cut and extended action sequences added.
Several cast and crew members voiced their disapproval of the changes, which shifted the tone from a gritty war film with deep character development and a significant romantic subplot to an action-packed, farcical comedy. However, nearly 50 years later, Kelly’s Heroes enjoys a cult following, with countless quotable lines proving that the final cut truly hit the mark. To bring a slice of Hollywood to your battlefields, we have drawn upon the final version of the movie, Burt Hirschfeld’s 1970 novel of the same name (heavily based on the original script), and real-life historical details of the units portrayed in the film.
Oddball’s Shermans are officially part of the US 6th Armored Division, but their commanding officer was decapitated by a German 88mm gun. The three tank crews have neglected to report this fact, allowing them to enjoy the French countryside while masquerading as a battle-worn unit just out of action. Every Oddball Sherman box includes a superb bonus: a full-color, 8-page booklet featuring personalized special rules for each hero and vehicle, adding that signature Hollywood flair to your movie-inspired Bolt Action games. You can also grab a fantastic 20-page ruleset covering Kelly’s Heroes movie units and a dedicated force selector.
This vehicle is also playable in Achtung Panzer!, the game of close-quarters tank-on-tank combat, with its full rules available in the Achtung Panzer! rulebook.
