The Isuzu Type 98 AA Machine Gun Carriers combine a Type 98 20mm automatic cannon with the rear of a six-wheeled Type 94 or later Type 96 truck. The Type 98 20mm autocannon is the most common light anti-aircraft gun of the Imperial Japanese Army, with a range of 5,500 metres and a firing rate of up to 300 rounds per minute. These self-propelled anti-aircraft guns are not mass-produced, and the few that see service are deployed in air defense units of Japanese tank divisions.
The Type 98 AA truck provides a Japanese force with its only dedicated anti-aircraft option. It is armed with a platform-mounted light automatic cannon featuring the Flak special rule, but it is equally deadly against ground-based infantry or lighter vehicles, offering versatile tactical options.
