Phenolic foam 4 mm – A5 size is a high-precision material specifically developed for 3D design, sculpting, and detailed model or terrain building. With a density of 10 pcf (approximately 160 kg/m³), it provides an excellent balance between strength and workability. Its low-memory structure allows for highly detailed engraving and texturing by simply pressing tools or textured objects onto the surface, making it ideal for creating walls, pavements, buildings, and other complex structures.
Highly valued by experienced hobbyists, this foam can be easily cut using a hobby knife or modelling saw, while also allowing precise sculpting work. Its strong chemical resistance makes it compatible with a wide range of adhesives, including PVA glue, cyanoacrylate glue, hot glue, and other modelling adhesives. It can be painted with both water-based and solvent-based paints. For best results, sealing the surface with diluted white glue or a primer is recommended to stabilize the fine granules and improve finish quality.
This material integrates easily into various modelling workflows:
- accurate cutting with knives or saws
- engraving and texturing by pressure
- assembly with multiple adhesive types
- painting with acrylic or solvent-based products
Specifications: A5 format, 4 mm thickness, density 10 pcf (160 kg/m³). Thickness may vary by up to 1 mm due to the manufacturing process. Note: this material is heat-resistant (up to 150°C), making it unsuitable for hot wire cutting tools. After cutting, metal tools should be cleaned to prevent long-term corrosion.
