“Glory Hallelujah!” brings the American Civil War to the tabletop for Black Powder, recreating one of the most dramatic and devastating conflicts of the nineteenth century.
Following the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860, growing tensions between the Northern and Southern states finally erupted into open conflict. Southern states, fearing for their rights and independence, seceded from the Union and formed the Confederacy, while the North prepared to preserve the United States by force if necessary.
The war began in April 1861 with the Confederate attack on Fort Sumter and would continue for four brutal years as vast armies marched across American farmland, cities and countryside. Battles such as Gettysburg, Antietam and Bull Run demonstrated on a terrifying scale that modern industrial warfare could truly become “all hell.”
This supplement for Black Powder explores the history, armies, leaders and battlefield tactics of the American Civil War, providing everything needed to recreate its famous battles in miniature.
The supplement highlights the changing nature of warfare during the period, including the growing importance of artillery, disciplined infantry firepower and battlefield command under increasingly deadly conditions.
From desperate defensive stands to sweeping assaults across smoke-covered fields, “Glory Hallelujah!” captures the scale and tragedy of the American Civil War on the tabletop.
