Magnus The Red 1 begins the five-shade Tone Pro progression for this colour. As the darkest stage of the sequence, it establishes a deep foundation from which the brighter shades can be built gradually across the miniature.
The Tone Pro formulation combines intense colours with strong coverage, delivering substantial coverage from a single coat even with shades that can traditionally be more difficult to handle. Magnus The Red 1 can be applied straight from the pot, while its self-levelling properties help the paint spread evenly and produce a consistent finish.
Each Tone Pro colour is organised into five levels, with Shade 1 as the darkest and Shade 5 as the lightest. This makes Magnus The Red 1 the starting point for the complete sequence. Use it on its own when a deep tone is required, or build upon it with Shades 2, 3, 4 and 5 to gradually introduce more brightness.
The paint can also be adapted to several techniques rather than being restricted to a basecoat. Depending on how it is applied, Magnus The Red 1 can be used for basecoating, shading, glazing, highlighting and drybrushing. Its position at the darkest end of the progression makes it particularly useful for establishing deeper areas before moving towards lighter tones.
Starting with Magnus The Red 1 gives you a clear foundation for the rest of the colour sequence. From there, the four lighter shades can be introduced progressively, maintaining a consistent colour identity while allowing the brightness and definition of the miniature to develop step by step.
