Magnus The Red 4 sits just below the lightest shade in the Tone Pro colour sequence. As the fourth of five stages, it introduces a pronounced level of brightness while retaining the intense character of the range, making it a useful step when building contrast across a miniature.
Tone Pro paints are formulated to provide strong coverage from a single coat, including with colours that can traditionally take more effort to apply evenly. Magnus The Red 4 can be used directly from the pot, while its self-levelling properties help maintain an even layer and a consistent finish across the painted surface.
Each colour in the range follows a five-shade progression, with 1 as the darkest and 5 as the lightest. Shade 4 therefore provides a high point within the sequence without reaching the maximum brightness of Shade 5. Use it to build brighter areas before moving to the final shade, or make it the brightest stage of a scheme when a slightly lower overall contrast is preferred.
The formulation also allows the paint to take on different roles throughout a project. Basecoating, shading, glazing, highlighting and drybrushing can all be carried out with the same reference, with the application technique determining how the paint behaves on the miniature.
Working upwards from Magnus The Red 1, 2 and 3, this fourth shade provides another controlled increase in brightness before the final stage. Pair it with Magnus The Red 5 to complete the full progression, or use it independently wherever its particular level of intensity fits your colour scheme.
