When Carthage required additional manpower, its own citizens were called upon to reinforce the standing army. This set represents the Carthaginian Citizen Infantry, providing a unit of civilian soldiers equipped for service during the Punic Wars and other conflicts involving the Carthaginian state.
The box includes 24 plastic miniatures with multiple assembly variations. Although these troops wear no body armour, they are equipped with the essential equipment of the Carthaginian infantryman: a helmet, shield and spear. Their appearance reflects the role of citizen levies raised to strengthen the army during periods of war.
The different assembly options introduce variety throughout the unit while maintaining a consistent visual style. They integrate naturally alongside veteran Carthaginian warriors, Liby-Phoenician heavy infantry and other Punic contingents, helping to create armies that better reflect the diversity of Carthaginian military forces.
Whether used to represent emergency levies or the citizen element of a larger Carthaginian host, these miniatures add another historical dimension to Punic armies. Their simpler equipment also provides an effective visual contrast with the more heavily equipped troops that often formed the core of Carthage's military campaigns.
