Before using the roller, knead your sculpting material thoroughly according to the manufacturer's instructions. A smooth roller may help prepare the surface evenly. Depending on the compound used, lightly moistening the roller can help reduce sticking. This tool works especially well with polymer clays like Fimo or Super Sculpey, which remain soft until baked (15 minutes at 150°C), even when applied directly to MDF wooden bases. For epoxy putties such as Green Stuff or Milliput, extra steps may be needed: add water, talcum powder, or modeling vaseline to reduce stickiness. Mixing Milliput with children’s modeling clay (50/50) can also improve workability.

After use, it’s important to clean the roller thoroughly with warm water and a soft brush, especially when working with Milliput. This sculpting tool is not intended for use by children without adult supervision.
