Formed in 1943 from veteran troops who had fought in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy, the Panzer Lehr Division was conceived as an elite armored training and demonstration unit. Its ranks were filled with highly experienced soldiers, making it one of the most capable formations in the German army from the outset. Known for its combat readiness and tactical precision, the division quickly earned a formidable reputation on the battlefield.
In 1944, the Panzer Lehr Division participated in operations in Hungary before redeploying to France in anticipation of the Allied invasion. Unlike other panzer divisions, all of its panzergrenadiers were mounted in half-tracks, making it the only fully mechanized unit in the German army. It was also one of the first divisions to fight alongside the powerful Tiger II heavy tanks. Troops of the Panzer Lehr wore a distinctive double-breasted assault gun-style jacket, setting them apart visually from regular army soldiers.
This box contains ten metal miniatures representing a Panzer Lehr squad, perfect for recreating late-war battles on the Western Front. Each figure captures the unique appearance and elite status of this renowned division, from their uniforms to their equipment. The detailed sculpting offers realistic poses and textures, making them ideal for both collectors and wargamers. The set includes plastic bases, providing everything needed to add this mechanized infantry unit to your German WWII army.
