For best use, thoroughly knead the material according to the manufacturer's instructions. After flattening the surface, roll slowly while applying even pressure. Depending on the compound, moistening the roller may help prevent sticking. Once the material is set, any excess can be trimmed away for a cleaner finish. This roller works especially well with polymer clays like Fimo or Super Sculpey, which remain pliable until baked. For textured bases, clay can be applied directly on MDF and baked at 150°C for 15 minutes.

The roller is also suitable for epoxy putties such as Green Stuff and Milliput. Green Stuff, being particularly sticky, may require light moistening or the use of talcum powder or modeling vaseline to reduce adhesion. Milliput can be blended with children's modeling clay in a 50/50 ratio for improved workability. Always clean the roller after use with water and a soft brush. This tool should be used under adult supervision if handled by minors.
