Using the rollers is simple and effective. Start by kneading the clay or putty thoroughly, then spread it evenly on your work surface. For best results, it is recommended to use a smooth roller first to level the material. Depending on the compound used, slightly moistening the roller may help prevent sticking. Roll slowly and apply even pressure to create a consistent texture. Once the material is semi-cured, trim any excess to refine the details. These rollers work well with polymer clays such as Fimo or Super Sculpey, which remain workable until baked, and with epoxy putties like Green Stuff or Milliput.

For baking applications, MDF bases are ideal, as they can be textured directly and withstand oven temperatures (150°C for 15 minutes) without burning. When working with epoxy putties, each has its own handling preferences: Green Stuff requires water, talcum powder, or modeling vaseline to reduce stickiness. Milliput should not be over-hydrated; if it becomes too sticky, kneading will reduce adhesion. It also works well when mixed with children’s modeling clay in a 50/50 ratio. After use, clean the rollers thoroughly with water and a brush pen to maintain the engraved pattern quality. These tools are not intended for unsupervised use by minors.
