This textured roller made of transparent PMMA is a modeling tool designed to imprint detailed patterns onto a variety of materials such as putties, clays, and modeling pastes. Manufactured from non-toxic, non-stick acrylic, it ensures clean and snag-free application even on sticky materials. Measuring 14.5 cm in length and 2.5 cm in diameter, it provides excellent grip and control. This specific model features a rich combination of textures, including multiple brick types, fleur-de-lys elements, ornamental shapes, and fine filigree—ideal for scenic bases, fantasy settings, or historical scenery in miniature builds.
To achieve the best results, first knead the clay or putty thoroughly, following the manufacturer’s guidelines. Spread the material evenly onto the surface to be textured. For optimal definition, it is highly recommended to flatten the surface first using a smooth roller. Depending on the material, you may need to lightly moisten the roller to avoid sticking. Roll slowly while applying even pressure across the surface to ensure a consistent texture. For polymer clays like Fimo or Super Sculpey, you can bake the entire piece directly on an MDF base at 150°C for 15 minutes—MDF will emit a toasted smell but will not burn.
This roller works well with most sculpting materials. For sticky epoxies like Green Stuff, reduce adhesion by moistening the roller or applying talcum powder or modeling vaseline. Milliput is also suitable, but it should not be overly wet. To improve workability, you can mix Milliput with children's modeling clay (50/50 ratio or other proportions). After use, thoroughly clean the roller with water and a brush pen to keep the details sharp and ready for future use. Not a toy—this tool should only be used under adult supervision.
