Before applying the roller, knead the chosen material thoroughly according to the manufacturer’s guidelines. Flatten the surface with a smooth roller for best results, then apply the textured roller slowly with even pressure to create a consistent texture. Depending on the medium, the roller may need to be moistened slightly to prevent sticking. Polymer clays like Super Sculpey or Fimo work very well, and MDF bases can be textured directly and then baked at 150°C for around 15 minutes.

The roller is also compatible with epoxy putties such as Green Stuff and Milliput. Green Stuff is especially sticky, so moistening the roller or using talcum powder or modeling vaseline is recommended. Milliput works well on its own, but mixing it 50/50 with children’s modeling clay can improve handling. After use, clean the roller thoroughly with warm water and a fine brush, especially if used with pure Milliput. This is a precision tool and should only be used by minors under adult supervision.
