This high-quality lacquer-based paint features an advanced chemical formula and superior color accuracy compared to other brands on the market. Designed for modelers who demand precision and realism, it provides a smooth, even finish ideal for aircraft and military modeling.
It flows smoothly through an airbrush, adheres firmly to the surface, and dries evenly with a soft, consistent finish. Highly resistant to weathering effects, it serves as a durable base for any painting or finishing technique. For best performance, dilute with RC701/RC702 High Compatibility Thinner or other thinners formulated for lacquer-based paints.
This shade was used on the upper surfaces of US Navy carrier-based aircraft from 1955 until the early 1980s. From 1977 onward, it gradually became the overall color for carrier-based fighters such as the F-14 Tomcat and F-4 Phantom II. It was also the lower surface color of USMC AV-8B Harrier II aircraft in the mid-1980s “Land Camouflage” scheme, and one of the tones tested in the Ferris Scheme in 1976. Additionally, it served as the lower surface color for US Navy SH-3 Sea King helicopters and the overall color for USMC CH-53D helicopters (2008–2012). It is also a fair equivalent of M-485 Light Grey, used on US Navy and USMC carrier-based aircraft during the early 1940s.
