Persian armies relied heavily on ranged troops, and the unarmoured archer was an essential part of the Achaemenid military tradition. This set provides 30 highly detailed plastic miniatures that can represent archers from both the early and later Achaemenid Empire.
The box contains 24 archers and 6 command miniatures, including officers, standard bearers and musicians. These command models provide a natural way to distinguish important figures within the formation while adding variety to the ranks.
A selection of head, arm and weapon options allows you to vary the appearance of your archers during assembly. The set also includes Sparas and spare arrows, giving you different ways to present the unit on the tabletop. Deploy the archers behind a wall of Sparas to represent a more protected firing position, or use them as skirmishers to harass an advancing enemy.
The unit can therefore serve across a wide range of Persian armies and historical conflicts. These archers can be fielded in campaigns against the Greeks, Macedonians, ancient Indians and Scythians, as well as in the numerous civil wars and internal struggles that took place within the Persian world.
Additional customisation is available through LittleBigMenStudios shield and quiver transfers, which are designed for use with the set. Combined with the interchangeable components, command figures and included Sparas, these miniatures provide plenty of scope for creating a distinctive Persian archery contingent.
