For centuries, the Greek hoplite formed one of the defining images of warfare in the ancient Mediterranean. From the early Achaemenid conflicts through the wars between Greek states and the struggles against Macedon, this set provides 48 miniatures covering a broad historical period from approximately 500 to 250 BC.
The box contains 48 Greek hoplite miniatures, providing a substantial body of heavy infantry for your army. Their historical scope makes them suitable for representing Greek forces involved in conflicts against the early Achaemenid Persian Empire, the Peloponnesian War and the later struggles involving Macedonian power.
The same miniatures can also be used to portray Greek armies facing the later Achaemenid Persian Empire. This broad timeframe gives the set considerable flexibility when building forces for different campaigns, battles or historical periods within the ancient Greek world.
Additional options allow the miniatures to be adapted beyond their primary role. By adding Carthaginian heads, the figures can also be used to create variants representing Libyan and Carthaginian spear-armed troops, extending the potential uses of the collection.
With 48 models in a single set and the option to explore different historical armies through additional components, these miniatures provide a substantial foundation for building Greek heavy infantry while offering scope to expand into other forces of the ancient Mediterranean.
