As Thebes rose to challenge the established powers of Classical Greece, its warriors became part of some of the most important conflicts of the 5th and 4th centuries BCE. This set represents armoured Theban, Boeotian and Thessalian hoplites, covering an era that stretches from the closing years of the Persian Wars through the Peloponnesian War, the rise of Theban power and the destructive conflicts that would eventually bring Macedonia into the struggle for control of Greece.
The box contains 48 finely detailed hoplite miniatures, providing enough models to build a substantial infantry formation. Crisp sculpting gives the warriors a strong visual presence, while the selection of interchangeable components allows the unit to be assembled with plenty of variation.
There are 8 different head variants, giving you a straightforward way to diversify the appearance of the formation. The weapon options offer further variety, with thrusting arms, resting spear arms and sword arms available for assembly. More resting-spear poses can be created by rotating a thrusting arm through 90 degrees, making clever use of the components already included in the set.
The sprue configuration gives you additional freedom when building individual models. Each sprue contains 8 miniatures, four with shield arms and four without. This makes it easier to create models in distinctive positions, including musicians, officers and other characters who need to stand apart from the main body of the unit.
For the finishing touches, the set also includes cloaks and several sword scabbard options. These small details can make a noticeable difference across a large formation, allowing individual hoplites to be differentiated while maintaining a unified appearance. With its combination of detailed sculpts and varied assembly options, the set offers a substantial foundation for representing Theban and allied hoplite forces on the tabletop.
