Few formations are as closely associated with Macedonian warfare as the phalanx. Packed into close ranks and advancing as a unified body, its soldiers became a defining element of Macedonian armies. This set provides 27 Macedonian phalangites to build or reinforce such a formation.
The miniatures represent Macedonian phalangites, the infantrymen who formed the backbone of the distinctive Macedonian phalanx. Their inclusion gives a Macedonian force an immediately recognisable visual identity on the tabletop.
With 27 miniatures in the set, this collection provides a substantial body of infantry for establishing a phalangite formation or increasing the size of an existing unit. Fielded together, the models can create the dense ranks and imposing presence associated with one of the most famous military formations of the ancient Greek world.
Whether used as the core of a Macedonian infantry force or as an addition to an existing collection, these phalangites bring the characteristic look of Macedonian warfare to the battlefield. Their numbers make them particularly suited to representing the massed infantry formations that defined the phalanx.
